Naturally one thinks of small corner baths being installed in bathrooms where space is limited and this is indeed the reason most homeowners, when remodeling their bathrooms, tend to install them. However, small corner baths can also be added to a bathroom, even a larger bathroom, for effect or to enhance the overall décor of the room.
There are many different small corner bath styles to choose from. You are not restricted to purchasing a bathtub that fits perfectly into a corner at a 90-degree angle with both sides equal. These are usually the most space saving designs, however they are also often the least comfortable to use. You can also buy offset bathtubs where one of the sides that rest against one wall is considerably longer than the other side. Baths with one side longer than the other usually have a slightly longer tub and are generally a little more comfortable, with some actually almost as long as a regular bathtub.

You can be quite creative in your choice of bathtubs. Some corner tubs are extremely high end, with a hard wood surround instead of the regular ceramic or tiled surround. Woods used often include mahogany, or cherry wood. If you want to really add some elegance to your bathroom, and it is roomy enough to make some fairly major improvements, one idea that uses the corner tub quite nicely is to build a small retaining wall that comes out from the wall inside the bathroom that is about twelve inches higher than the top of your bath and twelve inches longer. Often these retaining walls are made from cement and then tiled. You can buy a corner unit and place that up against the retaining wall and the wall of the bathroom. This gives a modicum of privacy while bathing and really is an elegant idea if you want to spruce up your bathroom. You can attach a handrail to the retaining wall a few inches about the top of the bath to aid in getting in and out.
You can also buy a walk in corner bath with a shower attached overhead. These walk in baths are cut low to the floor and have a door that tightly seals shut to keep the water inside the bath. A set up like this is ideal and allows you to have a shower and bath unit in the smallest of bathrooms. It is also very accommodating for the elderly, those who have any type of handicap, and children. As you can see there are many different ways that small corner baths can enhance the overall appearance of your bathroom, no matter how roomy or how tiny it is.
